The Southeastern Grain and Feed Association held its annual convention February 22-24, 2007 at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston, SC. Over 235 participants attended this year’s event. Among the attendees were representatives from feed and grain facilities from the Midwest and from Virginia through Georgia, as well as suppliers and vendors to the grain and feed industry. The overwhelming mood of the entire convention was very upbeat based on the optimistic outlook for grain prices this year.
Manry-Rawls was a sponsor and an exhibitor, as it has been for several years. Attending this event from Manry-Rawls were Debra Ricks, Business Development Coordinator, Ted Lawson, Senior Agri-Business Consultant, and Vee Pittman, Senior Agri-Business Consultant. The event kicked off Thursday night with a reception for attendees and exhibitors from 5:30 until 7:00. Friday morning, the convention began at 8:00 and continued throughout the morning with various industry-related speakers. Topics ranged from national updates on the grain and feed industry to alternative fuels(ethanol and bio-diesel). Exhibitors were then introduced and given the opportunity to plug their respective companies.
Friday evening was the annual banquet in the Colonial Ballroom and a good time was had by all.
The 2008 meeting is scheduled for the same time next year and will be held in Savannah, GA.
