Southern Cotton Growers and Southeastern Cotton Ginners Association held their annual meeting at the Westin Resort in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina on January 17-20, 2007.
This function was well attended by both growers and ginners and vendors in the cotton industry. Manry-Rawls was represented at the meeting this year by four employees, and we were exhibitors. In addition to myself, in attendance were Linda Janka, cotton gin Account Manager; Debra Ricks, Business Development Coordinator; and Joan Herring, Crop Insurance Specialist.
Manry-Rawls was again a sponsor at this event, which is very important to us, considering our commitment to the cotton industry. In addition to the opportunity for fellowship among people in this industry, there were many informative programs available for all attendees. We were able to find out about this past year’s safety experience in the ginning business, as well as information on a new proto-type cotton picker being introduced by John Deere.
This is an excellent event to stay up on what is going on in the cotton industry.
The mid-year meeting will be held on July 11-13, 2007, at Baypoint, Florida.
